Friendship is a very important aspect in life in which you need to survive with. Friends are important as they can be many things. A playmate, a mentor, one to learn from, one to teach. Many think that friends are for playing. But for us, we believe that friends are to help you positively, to encourage you along your troubles. Friends can pull you back when you are travelling down the wrong path. Friends can guide you when you are doubtful. Friends are a source of light in a world of darkness. Friends are people who are loyal until the very end.

A Dog Has Died
A Dog Has Died
My dog has died.
I buried him in the garden
next to a rusted old machine.
Some day I'll join him right there,
but now he's gone with his shaggy coat,
his bad manners and his cold nose,
and I, the materialist, who never believed
in any promised heaven in the sky
for any human being,
I believe in a heaven I'll never enter.
Yes, I believe in a heaven for all dogdom
where my dog waits for my arrival
waving his fan-like tail in friendship.
Ai, I'll not speak of sadness here on earth,
of having lost a companion
who was never servile.
His friendship for me, like that of a orcupine
withholding its authority,
was the friendship of a star, aloof,
with no more intimacy than was called for,
with no exaggerations:
he never climbed all over my clothes
filling me full of his hair or his mange,
he never rubbed up against my knee
like other dogs obsessed with sex.
No, my dog used to gaze at me,
paying me the attention I need,
the attention required
to make a vain person like me understand
that, being a dog, he was wasting time,
but, with those eyes so much purer than mine,
he'd keep on gazing at me
with a look that reserved for me alone
all his sweet and shaggy life,
always near me, never troubling me,
and asking nothing.
Ai, how many times have I envied his tail
as we walked together on the shores of the sea
in the lonely winter of Isla Negra
where the wintering birds filled the sky
and my hairy dog was jumping about
full of the voltage of the sea's movement:
my wandering dog, sniffing away
with his golden tail held high,
face to face with the ocean's spray.
Joyful, joyful, joyful,
as only dogs know how to be happy
with only the autonomy
of their shameless spirit.
There are no good-byes for my dog who has died,
and we don't now and never did lie to each other.
So now he's gone and I buried him,
and that's all there is to it.

And a youth said, "Speak to us of Friendship."
Your friend is your needs answered.
He is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving.
And he is your board and your fireside.
For you come to him with your hunger, and you seek him for peace.
When your friend speaks his mind you fear not the "nay" in your own mind, nor do you withhold the "ay."
And when he is silent your heart ceases not to listen to his heart;
For without words, in friendship, all thoughts, all desires, all expectations are born and shared, with joy that is unacclaimed.
When you part from your friend, you grieve not;
For that which you love most in him may be clearer in his absence, as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plain.
And let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit.
For love that seeks aught but the disclosure of its own mystery is not love but a net cast forth: and only the unprofitable is caught.
And let your best be for your friend.
If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also.
For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?
Seek him always with hours to live.
For it is his to fill your need, but not your emptiness.
And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures.
For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.

Sonnet 30
SONNET 30
When to the sessions of sweet silent thoughtI summon up remembrance of things past,
I sigh the lack of many a thing I sought,
And with old woes new wail my dear time's waste:
Then can I drown an eye, unus'd to flow,
For precious friends hid in death's dateless night,
And weep afresh love's long since cancell'd woe,
And moan the expense of many a vanish'd sight:
Then can I grieve at grievances foregone,
And heavily from woe to woe tell o'er
The sad account of fore-bemoaned moan,
Which I new pay as if not paid before.
But if the while I think on thee, dear friend,
All losses are restor'd and sorrows end.
William Shakespeare

A Time To Talk
A Time to Talk
And slows his horse to a meaning walk,
I don't stand still and look around
On all the hills I haven't hoed,
And shout from where I am, What is it?
No, not as there is a time to talk.
I thrust my hoe in the mellow ground,
Blade-end up and five feet tall,
And plod: I go up to the stone wall
For a friendly visit.
Robert Frost

Love and Friendship
Love and Friendship
BY EMILY BRONTË
Love is like the wild rose-briar,
Friendship like the holly-tree—
The holly is dark when the rose-briar blooms
But which will bloom most constantly?
The wild rose-briar is sweet in spring,
Its summer blossoms scent the air;
Yet wait till winter comes again
And who will call the wild-briar fair?
Then scorn the silly rose-wreath now
And deck thee with the holly’s sheen,
That when December blights thy brow
He still may leave thy garland green

Holly-tree wild rose-briar
Analysis:
This poem uses similes to leave images in the reader's mind while they are reading this poem. This is the evidence from the poem "Love is like the wild rose-briar" and "Friendship like the holly-tree— ". This shows that the poet wanted to tell the reader the message about a comparison of love and friendship, by comparing this two and with the used of similes, that friendship is more important compared to love. In conclusion, the use of similes creates images in this poem which makes a deeper impression on the reader.
This poem also suggests that friendship is more important than love. It is the evidence from the poem that "The holly is dark when the rose-briar blooms" and " But which will bloom most constantly?". This shows that the the poet is trying to tell the reader that although sometimes in one's life, love relationship might seen more beautiful and attractive than friendship, but in reality, love is fragile, and often friendship is more long lasting than love. In conclusion, friendship is more important than love.
In the poem, it shows that love is sweet yet not long-lasting unlike friendship. It is evident in the poem that "The wild rose-briar is sweet in spring, Its summer blossoms scent the air; Yet wait till winter comes again And who will call the wild-briar fair?" This suggest that love is seasonal but not long lasting, unlike friendship. In conclusion, love is not as long lasting than friendship.
In the poem, the poet shows that she is looking down on love, and fully support friendship. It is the evident from the poem that "Then scorn the silly rose-wreath now. And deck thee with the holly’s sheen". The words "scorn" and "silly" were used make a bad sense of love, as both of the words have negative connotation. On the other hand, the word "sheen" has positive connotation. In conclusion, the poet does not like love as much as friendship.
Overall conclusion analysis - This poem is trying to compare love with friendship, with the used of similes as part of imagery. It is like a debate between these two, but lastly the friendship WON, as according to the poet, love is sweet yet short and just like seasonal, while friendship is long lasting and does not change over time.
