A Time To Talk

A Time to Talk

When a friend calls to me from the road
And slows his horse to a meaning walk,
I don't stand still and look around
On all the hills I haven't hoed,
And shout from where I am, What is it?
No, not as there is a time to talk.
I thrust my hoe in the mellow ground,
Blade-end up and five feet tall,
And plod: I go up to the stone wall
For a friendly visit.

  1. Good, you have got the idea that though there is work he still needs to do, the persona priorities friends over work.

I like the C.S. Lewis quote. Can you think of another poem which it could also be suitable for?

  4. I'm from Sri Lanka. This poem is in grade 8 English. Our students are away from Europe environment, so I dont know what make imaginaries students have and I could.Ulmately the bitter experience they have, they would be away from English poems. This is not of poem but some thing else.
